Marilynn Wagoner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sanders Funeral Home - Lubbock on Feb. 26, 2026.
Marilynn Stinchcomb Wagoner, 77, went to her heavenly home on February 25, 2026. She was born on June 28, 1948, in Ranger, Texas, and was adopted by Charles and Marjorie Stinchcomb, who lovingly raised her as their own. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1966, and on August 10, 1968, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Don Wagoner, whom she affectionately called "Jaime."

Marilynn and Jim were blessed with two daughters, Kimberly and Sara. From 1986 to 1990, they served as missionaries in the Philippines, faithfully sharing the love of Christ and planting churches. Marilynn taught Sunday school and led worship. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life.

If she could say one thing, she would tell you to know Jesus. That mattered more to her than anything. If you've never asked Him into your heart and you would like to, you can pray, "Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Please forgive me and come into my heart. Be my Savior and my Lord. Help me follow You. Amen." If you prayed that prayer, we encourage you to join a church family. She will be so happy to see you someday!

Marilynn worked for Gulf Oil in Dallas before she had her children and then she was a stay-at-home mom. She also worked for the Ft. Worth Star Telegram for over 14 years and was the first female single copy distributor to win the Distributor of the Year award. She loved her church family and treasured her friendships. She was known for her beautiful blue eyes, warm smile, and joyful spirit. She loved to laugh, tell stories, and could make friends with anyone. She especially loved the way her son-in-law could always make her laugh. An avid Texas Rangers fan, she watched as many games as she could each season. We know she will be cheering them on from heaven! She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jim Wagoner of Lubbock, Texas; daughters Kimberly Wagoner of Lubbock and Sara Smith and husband Sammy of Lubbock; granddaughter Emma Kate Smith; sister Cheryl Buchta and husband Tom of Boise, Idaho; niece Lara Williams and husband Jason of Escondido, California; nephew Sam Buchta and wife Krista of Sausalito, California; great-nieces and nephew; and many cherished family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C.G. and Marjorie (Atchison) Stinchcomb.

Visitation and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively, led by Pastor David Savage at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420 Main Street, Lubbock, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Meals on Wheels, 2304 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79411.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
