It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marina "Baby" Profeta Macatangay on November 19, 2024 at the age of 80. She was born on October 22, 1944 in Manila, Philippines to Mr. Roque Profeta and Mrs. Maria Paz Bravo Profeta.
Preceded in joining the Lord: her Mother and Father, her beloved husband, Dr. Tomas Macatangay followed by her siblings, Consolacion (Dr. Rafael) Diezmo, Aurora (Bernard) Gonzaga, Guillermo Profeta, and Manuel (Bienvenida) Profeta, Conrado Profeta and brother in law, Dr. Isidro Almeda.
Marina was married for 48 years to Dr. Tomas Macatangay. They met in Staten Island, New York and she worked as an accounting bookkeeper in Manhattan. They eventually moved to Michigan in 1969 to get married and start a family together. She was known for her kindness and generosity along with unwavering love for her family.
She was a devout Catholic member and one of the original members of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Shelby Township, Michigan throughout her life.
Marina was a homemaker and raised Bernard and Arlene. She also worked alongside her husband in a busy pediatric office as the Office Manager in Utica, Michigan where she flourished in her role as a caretaker in which she instantly cared deeply for the children as her own.
Marina enjoyed traveling with her husband, Tomas to numerous countries but she loved her trips to the Philippines visiting her family and friends.
She was an active member of the Auxiliary Philippine Medical Association of Michigan where she volunteered her precious time with the members. She felt accomplished and grateful to have met so many friends of whom she adored and admired.
After her husband's death in 2018, she stayed active with her friends and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchild.
She is survived by son, Bernard Macatangay, daughter Arlene (Macatangay) Sudia, son-in-law Michael Sudia, grandson, Andrew Sudia, and sister Adelaide (Del) Profeta Almeda, and sister in law, Eloisa Profeta.
Marina is also survived by several loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A viewing will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 54045 Schoenherr Rd, Shelby Township, MI 48315, Saturday, November 30th at 9:00 am with a Mass at 10:00 am. Her final resting place will be at Guardian Angel Cemetery where she will be alongside her husband, Dr. Tomas Macatangay. May she rest in peace.
