Mario Grossi, longtime resident of Somerville, passed away on Wednesday, April 16th. He was 92. Born and raised in Villalago, Italy, he was the cherished son of the late Panfilo and Concetta (Caputi) Grossi.
Mario's biggest passion was his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mario's family were his pride and joy, they were his world. He was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, loving Nonni, great Nonni and friend. He will be greatly missed. When Mario was not spending time with his family he was in his garden. He was proud of his vegetable garden and shared his abundance of veggies with everyone.
Mario was the beloved husband of 66 years to Maria (DiIanni) Grossi. He was the devoted father of Maria Rita Serrentino, Panfilo Grossi, Alfredo P. Grossi and his wife Anitra, and the late Panfilino Grossi. He was the loving Nonni of Dean Michael Serrentino Jr. and his wife Tracey, Stephanie Marie Teuber and her husband Eric, Anthony Nicholas Grossi, and Alicia Marie Grossi. He was the great Nonni of Francesca Anne Serrentino and Liam James Teuber. He was the dear brother of the late Florido Grossi and his wife Alba, Emilia Lupi and her husband Francesco, Vittorio Grossi and Antonio Guiseppe Grossi and his surviving wife Ilda. He was the caring uncle of Loredana Lupi, Deborah Lucciano, Luisa Lupi, and Jesse Grossi.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Mario's family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Tuesday, April 22nd from 4 to 7 PM and again Wednesday morning at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11 AM in St. Saint Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Mario's name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division Of Development/Jimmy Fund, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168
