The world became a lot less bright today as we said farewell to a one-of-a-kind lady. Marion Adamic, AKA Mimi, left our physical world surrounded by love on September 15, 2025. Born in Pueblo, CO, on April 28, 1954 to Donald Hammack and Phyllis (Stringfellow) Hammack. She was the oldest of three children and raised in Canon City, CO with her siblings, Marty and Matthew. Growing up she told of adventures of riding motorcycles, hiking, camping, family vacations, and dance recitals with her sister Marty. Marion attended Canon City High School and was part of the graduation class of 1972. It was there as a sophomore she met a skinny blue eyed farm boy named Dave Adamic in drafting class that stole her heart. The pair married on September 16, 1973 and made their home in Canon City. Here they raised four children: Scott, Doni, Chad, and Devon.
Marion had a way with kids and had an in-home daycare from 1988 until the early 2000's, but continued to watch her grandchildren up until she became sick with cancer in May of 2023. It didn't matter what type of event or party she attended children were drawn to her warm smile and kind eyes. Often wanting to spend time on her lap telling her stories or just enjoying the very best snuggles anyone could get. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy and kept her active and engaged until the very end. She had a never ending patience that cannot be explained. She also had an unbelievable ability to be able to tune out the madness these kids could create in terms of sound and still carry on a conversation or watch something on tv.
Marion enjoyed gardening and spent countless hours working in her yard year after year. Her vision would change every year as well, so often she would enlist the help of her husband, kids, or grandkids to help move equipment or landscaping material. She also enjoyed buying antique furniture and refurnish them. She was constantly teased that the appraisers from the antique roadshow would probably have a stroke after seeing her pieces even if they were beautiful afterwards. She also took much pride in the home that her husband built for her. She was constantly cleaning, moving furniture, and painting her walls various shades. Again, she would be teased that her house would melt if it ever caught fire and that she was lucky you could see the texture of her walls. Ever the kind soul, all she could do was smile. Every summer she looked forward to the week-long camping trip that she would take with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed the smell of the mountains, the hours long rides on a 4-wheeler or ATV, and quiet stillness of being in the mountains and witnessing the wildlife that she would encounter. The kids could always count on her to eat all the marshmallows they burnt as well.
Marion is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dave Adamic; children, Scott Adamic, Doni (Ty) Porter, Chad (Leslie) Adamic, Devon (Clinton) Adamic; grandchildren, Austin Adamic, Shimeeka Lovato, Slade, Gavin, and Kadin (Kaitlyn) Porter, Annika, Nora, Skadi Adamic, Creed, Brek, Ledger Carlile; great-grandchildren, Braydn, Bentley Yearick, Lainey Truman and Ryker Porter; siblings, Marty (Tim) Quinn, Matthew (Nettie) Hammack; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws, and all the greats too.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Phyllis Hammack; father and mother in-law, Fritz and Mildred Adamic; brother in-laws, Steve and Stan Adamic and sister in-law, Alayne Leahy.
