Marion Teague Costner, 84, passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of January 31, 2026, in Greensboro, North Carolina. A devoted mother, grandmother, and professional, Marion lived a life marked by unwavering love, dedication, and strength.
Born October 16, 1941 in Greensboro, Marion was the daughter of James W. Teague and Marion A. Szklarz. She spent her entire life in Greensboro, where she built a legacy rooted in family and hard work. For over four decades, she served as a Credit Manager for VF Corporation (formerly Blue Bell Inc), a global leader in clothing apparel, footwear, and accessories. Her commitment to excellence and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond her career achievements, Marion's greatest pride was her family. She poured her heart and soul into raising her son, Chris Costner. Her love, guidance, and wisdom never wavered through the years, a testament to the strength of her character and the depth of her devotion. She found immense joy in being a grandmother to Greyson Costner and Jaden Costner, cherishing every moment she spent with them.
Marion shared a deep bond with her late husband, William C. Costner Jr., whose memory remained close to her heart throughout her life.
A lifelong Catholic, Marion drew strength from her faith. She also found joy in simple pleasures, especially watching basketball and football with her son. A passionate Tar Heel and Cowboys fan through and through, she cheered on both teams with unmatched enthusiasm.
Those who knew Marion remember her as someone who lived with great purpose-beloved by family and friends for her warmth, resilience, and steadfast spirit.
A 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Friday February 6th, 2026. Burial will follow immediately afterwards at Westminster Gardens.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Marion hired me at Wrangler in 1992. I owe her so much. My prayers and condolences go out to the family. Thank you Marion for taking a chance on a teenager a year out of high school. I will always remember you and your work ethic.
