Marion Green

1943 - 2026

Marion Green, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and faithful servant of God entered eternal rest on January 5, 2026, in Luling, Louisiana at the age of 82. Marion was born on March 25, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Edward, Sr. and Leona Johnson Green. She was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Boutte, Louisiana by the late Rev. Albert Green. Marion lived a life deeply rooted in family service and faith. She was well known in the Boutte, Louisiana community where spent her early and adult years before later settling in Luling, Louisiana, after purchasing her first home, an accomplishment she was extremely proud of. It was there that she married the late Mr. Ray Mack in the late 1990's and continued building a life centered on love, resilience, and devotion to her family.

Marion dedicated her working life to caring for others. She served as a trusted nanny to a physician and later worked as a housekeeper at St. Charles Hospital, where she retired after years of service and her diligence and warm spirit left a lasting impression. That same spirit of care extended to her own family. As Marion lovingly and selflessly cared for her mother, the late Leona Green, ensuring she was supported with dignity, compassion, and unwavering devotion. A woman of strong faith, Marion was a devoted member of Bell Baptist Church in Luling, Louisiana, where she faithfully served as a choir member, lifting her voice in praise and fellowship.

Marion was a loving mother and grandmother who unapologetically spoiled her grandchildren. Her home was the place to be for the holidays and family gatherings. A space filled with laughter, music, and the comforting aroma of something delicious cooking on the stove. A good cook who loved experimenting in the kitchen, Marion often tried new recipes that went beyond traditional creole cuisine. Always eager to share her latest creation. Generous to her core, Marion never hesitated to help family in need, whether that meant offering financial support or opening her home for a temporary stay. She was known for her quick wit, infectious laughter, and love of dancing. Bringing joy wherever she went, true to form, Marion was always cleaning and tidying up-no matter whose house she was in. In fact, our family often joked that if she could, she would wash your clothes while you were still wearing them.

Marion was the proud mother of two sons, Mack, and Bryant (Erika) Green. She is also survived by her brothers, Alex (Alberta), and David (Rose) and her sister Gladys Simmons; Sisters-in-law Shirley Green and Mona Green; Grandchildren, Kennedy Latoya (Charles), Mack, Jr., Madison (Rodrigo), Morgan, and Quentin. Great Grandchildren Cesar, Charles, Jr, Macie, Madeline, Quence and Quentin, Jr., Her brothers Alex and David and sister Gladys Green, as well as a Host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward, Sr. and Leona Green, her brothers George, James, Edward, Jr., Paul and Timothy and her sisters Carrie Green and her husband Ray Mack.

Marion Green will be remembered as a devoted Matriarch whose life was marked by faith, generosity, humor, and love. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured, fed, prayed for, and joyfully spoiled.
