ISLAND FALLS – Marion Emily (Drew) Hoar, passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 96, at her home in Island Falls. She was born on January 4, 1929, in Dyer Brook, the daughter of the late John and Edna Mae Lane.
Marion graduated from Island Falls High School in 1947. She raised her family in Dyer Brook. She graduated from nursing school and work at Houlton Hospitals until her retirement in. She moved to Island Falls after her marriage to Harold Hoar Jr. in 1971. After her retirement, she volunteered for Hospice and the Southern Aroostook School library.
Marion attended the Whittier Congregational church regularly. Her hobbies included golfing, bowling, quilting, knitting, and crocheting.
She is survived by her children, Victor L. Drew and his wife, Faye (McLellan), Rebecca J. (Drew) Marquis, Sharman L. (Hoar) Drew-Ball and her husband, John; daughters-in-law Camilla (Drew) Botting and her husband, John, and Patricia (Dubois) Drew; grandchildren Josiah Drew, and wife, Heidi, Benjamin Drew, James Drew and his wife, Sara, Anthony Drew, April Trocki and husband, Andrew, Nicole Lyons and husband, John, Kathrine Noyes and her husband, Toby, John Drew, and Chase Marquis. She is also survived by twenty great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harold H. Hoar Jr., sons Frank A. Drew, Rodney J. Drew, Harold K. Hoar, and son-in-law, Richard M. Marquis Jr. She is also predeceased by her parents and ten siblings.
A funeral service will be held at the RIP Museum in Island Falls on October 27, 2025, at 11 am with Rev. Jesse James. To share memories and condolences please visit www.bowersfuneral.com
