Matthew Crandall Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 14, 2025.
OAKFIELD, Matthew Arnold Crandall, 54, passed away at his home on November 6, 2025, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born April 28, 1971, in Island Falls, the son of Gary Arnold and Robin (Stairs) Crandall.
Matt enjoyed playing golf, reading, studying science, especially earth science, working in his vegetable garden, farming his property, tending to his animals, and in general loved being out in nature. Like most county boys he had a passion for fishing, ice fishing and hunting. He always looked forward to "dude-cation" a weeklong hunting trip with the Crandall boys, his cousins Kenny and Raymond and in recent years they were accompanied by the next generation of Crandall boys. Matt worked for the Aroostook County Sheriff's office for 10+ years, he served on the Oakfield Selectmen Board as well as the Oakfield Planning Committee, he was a member of the Elks Club as well as the Masons. Above all this he loved his family the most and spending time with them was something he truly cherished. Everyone that met Matt had nothing but the best to say about him.
Matt is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years and partner of 21 years, Donna Bowser-Crandall, his four children, Kandise (Andre), Krista (Scott), Janie (Nick), and Lauren (Shelby), and his grandchildren, Paige, Trenton, and Zara. He is also survived by his sister, Hilary Lane and her husband Torry, his siblings-in-law, Darla and husband Darren, Dixie and husband Wulston, Danny, and Dennis and his wife Lisa, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be greatly missed by his work family at the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office and his fur babies at home.
He is predeceased by his parents Gary and Robin, his parents-in-law David and Dorothy as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
At Matt's request there will be no services at this time. Those wishing to remember Matt in a special way are encouraged to make a donation to the animal shelter of their choice in his memory. To share condolences and memories online visit www.bowersfuenral.com
