Mr. Marion Bruce Kingsmore, age 89, of 402 Dellrose Circle, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 at his home.
Mr. Kingsmore was a graduate of Union High School. He attended The Citadel and later graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Bruce's first job after graduation was with Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock in Virginia, where he worked on USS Enterprise, the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. He also met his wife Ava there on a blind double date, both dating other people when sparks flew.
Mr. Kingsmore's interest in fine jewelry began part-time in 1974 while working as an licensed Engineer with J.E. Sirrine and Company in Greenville. In 1980, he became a professional diamond broker and opened Diamond Jewelers of South Carolina in downtown Greenville. Bruce was a true pioneer in the business he created and if you knew Bruce, you knew he was a character, loved for his sense of humor and down to earth nature.
Surviving are two children, David Kingsmore of Buffalo and Karin Collins of Greenville. Mr. Kingsmore was a member of Putman Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Putman Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Lee Franklin.
Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.
