Marion K. Krcmarik

Marion K. Krcmarik, age 92, of New Lothrop, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, in the care of her daughter, Debbie, and Son-in-law, Regis. Marion will be remembered not for the day she left us, but for the extraordinary way she impacted lives.

Marion was born on August 22, 1932, to Michael and Marie (Hajek) Chmelar in Flushing, Michigan. She was the 4th of five children. Oldest Brother Robert died at 2 years old.

At a very young age, Marion understood her folks faced some critical challenges. The country was at war and in the middle of the Great depression, food and gas were rationed, and there were very few jobs -- The Chmelars lost their home after Marion

was born and moved to the farm in New Lothrop where she spent her childhood. Later after her husband Gus died, she moved back to a little house on that very same farm property where she lived until her passing.

She went on to earn a degree in teaching from Central Michigan University on a scholarship. In the 1950s, teachers were in such high demand that she graduated with a State Limited Certification after only 2 years of study. She later finished her degree, earning herself a bachelor's degree in education through extension courses. She worked at New Lothrop Schools for 40 years.

Following school, Marion married the love of her life, August "Gus" Krcmarik on July 22, 1955, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. Together they had a daughter, Debra and 2 years later their son, Mike joined the family -They shared 37 years together until his death in 1992.

While teaching was her passion, she also enjoyed hosting parties at her home, listening and dancing to polka music, as well as playing golf. Just this past year she was still playing on a couple of leagues, competed in the 2024 "Krcmarik Klassic" and always contended for top honors. The hole-in-one while golfing with her grandson was her most precious memory

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debra (Regis) Cavender; grandchildren, Scott and Luke; great grandchildren, Bailey, Victoria, and Crew; and brother, Edward Chmelar; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gus; son, Mike and siblings Millie and Henry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, from 2:00pm -7:00pm at McGeehan Funeral Homes - New Lothrop Chapel.
