Marion Ruth Moon, better known as "Cooter", 90 years of age, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away Thursday, September 5th of 2024 peacefully at her home. Marion was born August 12 th, 1934.
Cooter met the love of her life, Billy Robert Moon at the age of 15 and was married on June 2, 1950. They lovingly raised three children, ten grandchildren, and twenty and counting great and great-great grandkids. Cooter spent her earlier years helping her mother with the Thompson's Grocery Store in downtown Waxahachie on East Main. She supported her husband throughout her life as they built many homes across Waxahachie and Ellis County through Billy R. Moon Custom Homes. Her faith in Jesus was primary to everything she did in her life. Her family was known as a trusted home of hospitality as Cooter loved to cook and she always made sure no one went hungry. Cooter and family were early members of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and other congregations serving in numerous leadership capacities such as a Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Girls Missionary Auxiliary Leader. She exemplified loving the Lord in all that she did.
Cooter was proceeded in death by her husband, Billy Robert Moon in 2016. She is survived by her daughters Diane Smith and husband Devon, Susan Moon, and son Billy R. Moon II and wife Sherry, Grandchildren Jill Hatcher and husband Kirk, Jana Grissom and husband Roy, Jacob Smith and wife Susan, Trey Moon and wife Tiffany, Misty Christian, Leslie Moon, Ronnie Walker and wife Robin, Kenneth Walker and wife Cheryl, Jesse Moon, Gabby Moon, and so many wonderful great and great- greatgrandchildren.
The funeral services will be Sunday, September 8, 2 pm at Waxahachie Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service at Waxahachie Funeral Home at 1pm. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home. Please sign online guestbook www.waxahachiefuneralhome.com
