COTUIT- Marion Dottridge Robello, 94, got her final wish when she passed peacefully on December 19th. She is now joyfully reunited with her husband, Manuel H. Robello, who predeceased her 38 years ago.
Marion was very proud to have been born in her beloved Cotuit and lived there her whole life. Family and her village were everything to her. Born on April 6, 1930, she was the youngest child of E. Ormand Dottridge and Lila Belle (Childs) Dottridge. Marion was predeceased by all her siblings Robert O. Dottridge, Dorothy Cabral, Georgie Burgess and Walter "Spike" Dottridge. She remained close to the generations that followed, amazed that she'd known members of six generations in her lifetime.
In her youth, Marion supported her family's deep commitment to the Cotuit Fire Department, serving as a "victim" for rescue drills and assisting with other duties. After graduating from Barnstable High School in 1947, Marion enjoyed her job as a secretary for Goodspeed Insurance in Osterville. She and Mannie married October 1, 1950, and she found the most joy in her roles as a wife and mother. She welcomed neighbors and friends to her home and loved all aspects of living in a community where everyone looked out for one another.
After Mannie became disabled, Marion worked for elderly members of the community assisting with routine business and household tasks. Upon his death, Marion returned to the daunting task of full-time employment in a world that required her to learn how to use a computer. She found her perfect job as secretary for the Family Care Program run by Cape Cod Hospital where she worked for, and was supported by, the caring staff.
An active member of Cotuit Federated Church since childhood, Marion was honored to hold the time capsule recently opened during the church's building expansion. She had the pleasure of having a private indoor tour of the building, after keeping watch over the transition while out for her rides through the village.
It was important to Marion that her doctors and their staff be acknowledged, as she attributed her longevity to their care. Special thanks to Dr Mark Collins, Peter Chiotellis, Eddie Kadrmas, Theresa Cullen and James Wall. Marion was also especially grateful to her caregivers Kim, Maura, Nellie and Nicole who supported her daughters as well.
Marion is survived by her beloved daughters Debbie (John) Campbell, Nancy Allen, Kathi Campbell and Christine Robello; grandson Thomas Campbell (DeShonda Powell); granddaughters Laura and Melanie Campbell; and her great grandsons Jayden and Lucas Campbell who brought such joy to her heart. In addition, she leaves a large extended family whom she treasured. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Don Campbell and former son-in-law Clipper Allen.
