Marion L. Bass-Shepherd,age 80 born on October 1, 1945, in
Norfolk, VA, Died suddenly in her home. She grew up in Virginia Beach. She attended Maury High School. Marion was a radiant beacon of love, laughter, and kindness whose light touched the lives of all who knew her. Her spirit, as vibrant and warm as the autumn sun under which she was born, lived on in the heart of Columbus, Ohio, where she resided since 1969. She also worked at the limited. Marion's life was a beautiful tapestry of compassion and strength, woven together with threads of joy, resilience, and an unwavering faith in the goodness of people. As the English author George Eliot once said, "What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?" Marion embodied this truth throughout her life.
Marion was the cherished daughter of the late Roland and Dessie Bass. She is also preceeded in death by three other sisters - Margret Flanders,Shirley Farrow, and Irma Bass. Two surviving Sliblings James (Brenda) and sister Alma (Dennis) Holland of Virginia. Many nieces and nephews. Marion was married to Donald E. Shepherd September 5th 1962 in Norfolk Va who proceded her in death in 2004. To this union are two sons, Donald J 1964 ,and William E 1968, Marion was a guiding light who instilled in them the values of love, respect, and selflessness. Marion's life was a testament to her belief that "The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege," a sentiment echoed by Charles Kuralt. Marion's life was an embodiment of love, and her legacy continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross her path. She has one granddaughter who is the apple of her eye Amanda M 1992.
Marion was a woman of substance, an individual who celebrated life with a contagious enthusiasm that uplifted all those around her. Her beautiful spirit, her kind heart, and her love for her family and friends, made her a true gem in the eyes of many.
