Marion Slusarski

Marion Slusarski of Columbus, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Norfolk Veterans Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation is Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. There will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue Friday morning, 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery-Silver Creek.
Military honors will be conducted by The American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.
Marion was born to John and Mary (Maslonka) Slusarski on August 17, 1927, in rural Duncan. He attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and graduated from Duncan High School in 1945. Following the completion of harvest season of that year Marion went to basic training at Camp Robinson in Arkansas. Later he served in the U.S. Army at Fort McAndrew in Newfoundland and the Nebraska National Guard. He married Mary (Marjorie) Small October 18, 1952 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Genoa, Neb. They had three children. After Marjorie's passing he was remarried to Tessie (Bialas) Voichoskie November 26, 1983 at St. Peters and Paul Church in Fullerton, Neb. Marion farmed and ranched in Platte, Nance, Polk, and Merrick Counties. After retiring from farming he worked at Walmart in Columbus for 20 years. Early in life he enjoyed designing and fabricating farm equipment. Later in life he made-to-scale miniature farm equipment and buildings. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, polka music, and playing cards. Marion sang in the St. Stanislaus Church Choir for 20 years. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Columbus, Neb.
Marion was preceded in death by his wives, Marjoirie Slusarski and Tessie Slusarski; parents; brothers, Ted, Rudy, Lonnie, Edward, and Francis Slusarki; sisters, Emilia Micek, Cecelia Slusarski, Stephanie Small, and Sr. Roseria Slusarski; son-in-law, Phillip Ernst, Stepson Don Voichoskie; and stepdaughter, Bertilla Korte.
Marion is survived by children, Conrad (Diane Marks) Slusarski of Bellwood, Sharon Ernst of Columbus, and Carol Griencewic of La Vista; grandchildren, Morgan Slusarski, Nathan Slusarski, Ryan Ernst, Sarah Ernst, Lindsay (Tom) Bornhoft, Lauren Griencewic; and great-grandchildren. Stepchildren and their spouses, Norma (Louie) Kontor of Columbus, Bobby Voichoskie of Fullerton, Dwayne Korte of Fullerton, Charles (Debbie) Voichoskie of Columbus, Chris (Tony) Babb of Fullerton; many step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren. Marion is also survived by his brother, John Stevens of Lombard, Ill. and nieces and nephews.
