Marion Tedder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations on Jul. 12, 2022.
Marion Victor (Mansy) Tedder, age 84, of Wendell, NC, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, at Duke-Raleigh Hospital.
The Funeral Service will be conducted Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Dr. John Mark Horrell officiating. The Funeral Service will be followed by a time of Visitation, both of which will occur at Wilson First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2000 Ruann Drive, Wilson.
Marion is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Faye Tedder; sisters, Sally Hill and Mary Jean Scott, both of Wilson; brother, Carlton Tedder (Ramona) of Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Marion in death were his parents, Luke C. and Victoria Lewis Tedder; sisters, Ethel Shepard, Mildred Murphy, Geneva Godwin, Rachel Duke, Geraldine Scott, Vara Matthis, Verdie Dunn, Yvonne Bass; brother, Luke (Bud) Tedder.
Before joining the United States Army, Marion worked with Faulkner Neon Sign Company in Wilson. Upon his discharge from the Army, Marion and a business partner started their own company, United Sign Company, working there until his retirement. After a few years of retirement, Marion decided to return to work at a nearby Wake County Trash and Recycling center, and did so for 12 years until he was physically unable to continue.
In Marion's younger days, he enjoyed traveling to the North Carolina Coast to fish. His passion for fishing began while pier and surf fishing. Eventually, Marion bought a boat so he could expand his fishing territory. In his later years, Marion could be found tinkering in his garage while listening to Rush Limbaugh.
Marion will be remembered as kind and humble, and a man of few words. However, when he did speak, it was often in a witty and dry manner. He enjoyed jokes, was a practical jokester, and loved making everyone laugh. He collected hats that had funny quotes or pictures on the front. There was one hat with the saying, "I Didn't Never Think I Would Get This Old." Another hat appeared to have been splattered with bird droppings. These are just two of many.
Marion's kind heart, gentle spirit, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wilson First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
