Marjorie F. Andrescavage

Marjorie “Mitzie” Andrescavage (Labrie), age 78, of Harrisville, passed away gently and peacefully on December 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Mitzie was the beloved wife of George J. Andrescavage, Jr. They were married for over 59 years and together since the ages of 15 and 16, sharing a lifetime of partnership, deep affection, and enduring love. Together, they built a life defined by devotion to family and unwavering commitment to one another. 

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Mitzie grew up in Smithfield and was a 1965 graduate of North Providence High School. She spent most of her adult life in Glocester, where she raised her family. Following her retirement, she and George moved to Florida, enjoying many happy years there before eventually returning home to Rhode Island, a place that always held her heart. Mitzie was a devoted and loving mother to Lisa M. Hughes, Melissa L. Veresko (Stephen), and Jennifer A. Caffrey (Lonnie). She was a cherished Grammy to her grandchildren, whom she affectionately called the “Grands”: Emily, Stephen, and Megan Veresko; Anna Hughes; Ethan and Emma Caffrey; and the late James M. Hughes, whom she now joins in the light and love of God. Mitzie was the beloved daughter of the late Marjorie and Frank Labrie and the treasured granddaughter of the late Lawrence and Clarice Priestley, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her loving brother, Michael F. Labrie (Carol), and was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and leaves behind many cousins. 

Throughout her life, Mitzie worked in several roles, including as a bookkeeper for various companies, and later at Crown Optical prior to her retirement in 2010. She was actively involved in her children’s lives and supported their activities, including Girl Scouts, and volunteered for many years with the Glocester Recreational Girls’ Basketball League. While she took pride in her professional and volunteer work, caring for her family was always what mattered most to her. Mitzie and George spent many happy years in Florida, where she deeply enjoyed the beauty of sunsets, time in the Disney parks, and palm trees. Many treasured family memories were also made over the years spent in South Kingstown, at the beach house at Mary Carpenter’s, a place that held special meaning for her and her family. Mitzie had a deep appreciation for old-time movies and classic television and particularly enjoyed The Andy Griffith Show. She was also a fan of Elvis and had a fondness for the music and style of the 1950s. Stories centered on family, kindness, and enduring relationships resonated with her and reflected the values she held close throughout her life. One of her favorite pastimes was reading the Sunday comics, something she genuinely looked forward to each week. She especially loved Wallace the Brave, enjoying its humor and charm. She also loved fresh-cut lilacs and roses of every color.

 Mitzie was immensely proud of her family and devoted her life to caring for them. Family gatherings held special meaning for her, and she took great joy in bringing everyone together and making sure every detail was just right. She cherished family traditions, including watching It’s a Wonderful Life each Christmas, a reflection of her belief in family, love, and showing up for one another. She and George also made it a point to call and sing “Happy Birthday” to their daughters and grandchildren, no matter what. She loved collecting family photographs and was known for her beautiful penmanship, which accompanied handwritten cards faithfully sent to her children and grandchildren for every holiday and special occasion, always with a signature five-dollar bill tucked inside. Mitzie always put others first and was a deeply generous and sensitive soul who supported many charitable organizations, especially St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart. Above all, Mitzie will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her quiet generosity, her honesty, and the deep bonds she nurtured throughout her life. Her legacy of love lives on in all who were blessed to know her. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. A funeral service will be held at Robbins Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, 1 Rhode Island Avenue, Johnston.

 The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to the staff at Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island, who went above and beyond in demonstrating exceptional care, compassion, kindness, and love to Mitzie and her family.
