Marjorie Helen Baumann, age 102, of Lake City, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Accura HealthCare of Lake City, Iowa. Marj was born to Charles and Vera (Wingerson) Snyder on February 23, 1923, in Carroll, Iowa. She was raised in the Lake City area and graduated from Lake City High School in 1940. Following graduation, she continued her education at the Iowa State Teachers College, graduating in 1943. Marj was united in marriage to Evert Baumann in Palo Alto, California, on June 20, 1944. This union was blessed with 4 children: Rich, Denise, Bev, and Chuck. After college, Marj worked as a teacher in the Milford Township Consolidated Schools (the first consolidated school in the state). She was also an Insurance Clerk at the McCrary Rost Clinic, worked at Farley's, and was a homemaker raising her children. As a child, Marj enjoyed reading, sewing, playing with the neighbor kids, swimming in the creek, skating on the ice, and running in the hills. As she grew older, exercise was part of her daily routine, rising early to stretch and taking her walker for brisk miles-long spins. As she once said, "If you move everything, everything moves." She loved her family and community and was a part of the Monday Club, P.E.O., Iowa Federated Women's Club, active with Lake City Union Church Women's Group, Bridge Club, and served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She and Evert took to the road in their retirement, traveling to all 50 states with their beloved travel trailer. These journeys provided many opportunities to meet new friends, see beautiful sights, and visit their kids all over the country. Survivors include her children, Rich Baumann (Donna), Denise Janssen, Bev Bruening (Tom), and Chuck Baumann (Ann), and her brother Bill Snyder. Marj had the pleasure of sharing her love with 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Marj was preceded in death by her husband Evert, great-grandson John Baumann, grandson Matt Baumann, granddaughter Anna Krull, as well as her sister Phyllis Ringenberg and brother Maurice Snyder. The family thanks caregivers at Accura and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care Marj received. The Visitation is at 8:30 am on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Lake City Union Church. The Memorial Service is at 9:30 am on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Lake City Union Church. Burial will follow the Memorial Service in the Lake City Cemetery, with lunch following the burial.
