Marjorie Hendrix Bunch, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, in Athens, Georgia.
She was born on June 16, 1938, in Washington, Georgia to the late William Grady and Mary Agnes Barrett Hendrix.
Marjorie was the proud mother of Zan Edward "Eddie" Bunch, Jr. and his wife, Robin of Milledgeville, Ga, William Thomas Bunch and his wife, Jenna of Tignall, Ga, and Gregory Allen Bunch and his wife, Sharon of Tignall, Ga. She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life; sister to Richard Hendrix of Florida, Ruth Rogers of Washington, Patricia Lindsey of Marietta, Mary Burt of Washington, and Kathy Hendrix of Thomson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Zan Bunch, her granddaughter, Gena Marie Bunch, and her sisters, Reba Thornton and Fannie Mae Banks Hodge.
In her early years, Marjorie worked at Almar Manufacturing in Tignall. She later served her community with dedication at the Southeastern Stages, operating the Washington Bus Station. Marjorie then spent 10 years driving a school bus for the Wilkes County Board of Education, a role she cherished until her retirement. She was a faithful member of Tabor Baptist Church.
Marjorie's life was marked by simple pleasures. She found great joy in spending time with her husband, with camping being one of their favorite activities. She also had a fondness for shopping and dining at Cracker Barrel. Above all, Marjorie was a woman of faith, and her strong belief guided her throughout her life.
Marjorie's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 11 am at Tabor Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 10 am until the hour of the service in the church sanctuary.
