Marjorie Mary Ciszewski, age 89, of Sterling Heights, Mich., died surrounded by family on January 10, 2025, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.
Marjorie was born in Detroit, Mich., September 13, 1935, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Krist. She married the late John Ciszewski on August 10, 1957, and was married for 59 years before he died in 2016.
Marjorie graduated with highest honors from the Felician Academy in Detroit in 1953. She earned her bachelor of arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Madonna College, Livonia, in 1957, and her master of education degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, in 1961. She spent three decades as an elementary school teacher in Allen Park and St. Clair Shores, Mich., primarily at Harmon Elementary in St. Clair Shores' Lakeview School District.
She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Ruthann Ciszewski (Donald Haberek) and Lisa Potestato (Salvator); by granddaughters Lauren (Dr. Cody) Brush and Rachel (Thomas) Yoder; by her three great-grandchildren Theodore and Lydia Brush, and Alexander Yoder; and her brother, Jerry Krist.
Marjorie enjoyed playing and teaching piano, leading catechism classes, cooking and baking, and listening to classical music. A woman of faith, she was a long-time parishioner at St. Isaac Jogues in St. Clair Shores and St. Thecla, Clinton Township.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 17, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wasik Funeral Home, 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (north of 22 Mile), Shelby Township, Mich. 48315, with a 6:30 p.m. eulogy service followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. An in-state will be held Saturday, January 18, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street (w. of Main St.), Mt. Clemens, followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m.
Marjorie will be entombed immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, Mausoleum of Angels.
