Bob Ciszewski, of La Grange, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 74, surrounded by his family after a long-fought battle with cancer. Bob was a loving husband to Patricia Ciszewski (née Moore) for a wonderful 30 years, a beloved father to Mitchell (Alison) Ciszewski, and an adoring grandpa to Eleanora. He was a dear brother of Colette (late Tony Ajster), JoAnn (Lou Klozik), and John Ciszewski, and a loving uncle to Stephen Klozik. He was reunited in death with his parents, Mitchell and Loretta Ciszewski, and his brothers, James and Joseph Ciszewski.
Bob grew up on the South Side of Chicago and was a huge fan of marching arts competitions. He was a member of the St. Augustine Chicago parish's 3rd Battalion competitive color guard and the Nisei Ambassadors Drum and Bugle Corps, playing baritone horn in numerous competitions. Bob graduated from Loyola University with a bachelor's degree and then went on to Northern Illinois University for his master's and Ph.D. Bob became a lifelong NIU football fan, holding season tickets for over 35 years. He also served on the NIU alumni board for several years.
Bob was a faithful civil servant, devoting a 30-year career to the Government Accountability Office. He had a passion for reading and avidly followed rugby. He met his wife Pat on a heli-hiking trip, and it was the start of a grand adventure for both of them. They loved the theatre and traveling the world, with Maui, Mexico, Barcelona, and California among Bob's favorite places to visit.
Bob and Pat were blessed with their amazing son, Mitchell, and it was the beginning of many more adventures, including teaching Mitch all about camping and participating in Indian Guides together. Bob loved attending his son's sporting events and was one of his biggest fans, being particularly proud of Mitchell's military service.
Bob was exceptionally devoted to his family and was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandpa. His family meant the world to him. He was a gentle giant and an upstanding man who is greatly missed by all who knew him.
