Rose "Il Duce" Montgomery

Rose Montgomery, age 92, of Palos Heights; formerly of Indian Head Park passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Edward F., M.D.; loving mother of Edward Montgomery, Judy (Joel) Yearian, Leslie (Clay) Haas, Rose Ann Montgomery and Suzy (Steve) Schell; devoted grandmother of Jordan, Conner, Tommy, Taylor, Christopher and Aidan; dear sister of Henry Bianco, Jr; fond aunt of Henry III, Henry IV, Nicolette, Anthony, Ashley, Michael and A.J.

When someone passes you often hear that another angel earned their wings. Rose, however, was born with wings that she honored and proudly displayed daily. She was a devout Catholic and never missed a 7:30 am Mass at St. John of The Cross. We even jokingly dubbed her the "Virgin Rose". She had quite the collection of prayer books, statues and rosary beads. When she wasn't at church or taking care of her children and grandchildren you could probably find her at Oak Brook Mall, her home away from home. She wore many hats: mother, wife, sister, Nana, daughter, friend and neighbor, and for those of you who really knew her, "Il Duce" …. IYKYK. If you were lucky enough to know Rose, you were truly touched by an angel, touched with her love and her kindness!

Visitation 4 to 8pm on Thursday, March 19th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Chapel prayers, 10:15am, from the funeral home to St. John of the Cross Church, Western Springs for an 11am Funeral Mass on Friday, March 20th. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, are greatly appreciated.
