Marjorie Andre "Andy" Jackson, a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and pioneer in emergency medical services, departed this world peacefully at the age of 89 on October 17, 2025, in Alamosa, Colorado. She was born on April 4, 1936, in Battle Mountain, Nevada and has left an indelible mark on all who knew and loved her.

Andy was a remarkable woman, known for her loving spirit and unwavering dedication to her community. As a true trailblazer, she became the very first paramedic in the San Luis Valley and the first female paramedic in the Bay Area of California. She later served as the Director of Alamosa County Emergency Medical Services. Her commitment to helping others extended into her teaching, where she shared her expertise in mathematics with nursing students at Trinidad State College, using her extraordinary talent to make complex topics accessible and engaging.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Andy embodied a zest for life. During her marriage to Robert Jackson, which began in August of 1979, the couple embarked on unforgettable adventures, including a honeymoon that involved hiking over a hundred miles of the iconic Pacific Crest Trail. Andy also had a passion for cooking and was a beloved cooking teacher, imparting her culinary knowledge to friends and family alike. As a devoted outdoorswoman, she found joy in nature and had a deep love for horses. After the age of 70, she pursued her Masters Degree.

Andy was not just a hard worker; she was a true feminist who lived by her principles, advocating for equality and empowerment in every facet of her life. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star and held numerous specialty certifications in her field, including Hazmat and advanced cardiac rehabilitation.

She leaves behind her devoted spouse, Robert Jackson, her children Steve (Anita) Yaffe, Linda Hinton Butler, and Ron Yaffe, her step children; Charlie (Vanessa) Jackson and Crystal (James) Dean. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren Ralph (Jordan) Hinton, Eric (Kiersten) Hinton, Carly (Danny) Banner, Nadia Hinton, Ryan Yaffe, Sara Yaffe, Cecilia Jackson, Zoey Jackson, Alder Jackson and Jimmy Dean, her numerous great grandchildren as well as her brother Bill "Guy" Stewart.

Andy was preceded in death by her parents Florence and Joseph Horton.

Andy's warmth, strength, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Andy's life will be held on Sunday November 9, 2025 beginning at 1:30 pm at Society Hall in Alamosa, where family and friends will gather to honor her legacy and share cherished memories of the remarkable woman she was. In a fitting tribute to her adventurous spirit, we will invite attendees to share in her love of the outdoors as we reflect on her beautiful journey through life.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alamosa Volunteer Search and Rescue, a cause that Andy felt embodied her vision in service of others.

May Marjorie Andre "Andy" Jackson rest in peace, knowing that her love and passion for life will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
