Newcomer Funeral Home - AkronMarjorie Eileen Jenkins born to Harold Domie and Oshel (Starcher) Potts in Roane County West Virginia on January 15, 1942. She passed away peacefully at her home in Tallmadge, Ohio on October 17, 2025 after a brief illness.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harold, Howard and Larry Potts, her dear sisters Dorothy Stimmel and Earlenia (Potts) Oswald, and daughter-in-law Shannon (Patton) Jenkins.
Eileen is survived by her husband Roy, daughter Tina (Michael) Kercher of Cleveland, Ga and son Scott (Nancy) Jenkins of Uniontown; grandchildren Kent Kercher, Caroline Kercher, Jared (Emma) Jenkins and Jonah Jenkins, as well as three great grandchildren and some very special nieces, children, family and good friends who will miss her care and service.
She was a faithful member of Tallmadge Church of Christ serving her fellow members in meaningful ways. Having few boundaries when it came to the care of others, she unselfishly gave of herself, even in her final weeks of life.
Eileen worked for the Akron Public School System for two decades and later served as a bus aide at Weaver School. After retiring Eileen served on the board of directors for Super Kids. She sewed countless care aids and items for People Serving People. She donated many gifts and supplies to the veterans at Valor Home and Freedom House, especially at Christmas. She was a dedicated and active member of her service Sorority Delta Theta Tau. She baked rolls and made desserts for the annual chili cook off and provided countless auction baskets to benefit the charities they support.
Eileen took much joy in hosting and feeding those who came to her home, family, friends, and foreign exchange students. Feeding people was her love language.
The family is thankful to the wonderful staff at Summa Hospice, wonderful care givers, friends and family who eased our burdens and brought joy to mom in her final months.
Visitation will be held Saturday November 8th from 11 AM- 1 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will begin promptly at 1 PM with Minister Joel Raulson officiating.
