Marjorie Meeks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lakes Funeral Home on Jun. 7, 2024.
Marjorie Meeks passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 78 at UK Bluegrass
Hospice Care in Lexington, Kentucky. Marjorie was born on April 19, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Henry and Doris Bolton Norris who preceded her in death.
Three brothers, Ronnie Norris, Ray Norris, and Nyle Norris also preceded Marjorie in death. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ray Meeks and their two children, Jason (Megan) Meeks and Jenny (Austin) Julian. In addition, Marjorie is survived by her sister, Susan Norris and a score of nieces and nephews.
Marjorie's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jessica Meeks, Lucas Julian, Anna Julian, Camilla Julian, and Levi Meeks, who will carry with them the memories of their granny's humor, creativity, and spirit.
Marjorie graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah and attended Brigham Young University. With her young family, Marjorie moved to Kentucky in 1975. In time, she worked as the children's librarian at the Estill County Public Library, where her storytelling brought tales to life for many children. She also worked as a Head Start teacher and center director influencing the lives of numerous children and their families.
Marjorie's interests were varied and included gardening, cooking, reading, learning, music, and nature. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Marjorie's faith in Jesus Christ guided her through life's challenges. Throughout her life, Marjorie was devoted to her family. Her strong, spunky spirit, wisdom, and sense of humor will be missed, but her memory will be cherished by those who loved her.
Marjorie loved flowers but was also an ardent supporter of the Southwest Indian Foundation https://www.southwestindian.com/donate. Anyone who feels so inclined may share their condolences in either manner.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, June 8th at Berea Cemetery in Berea, KY. Arrangements are being managed by Lakes Funeral Home.
