Marjorie Ann Perlinger, 88, beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, a lifetime resident of Paxton, Nebraska, entered her eternal rest on March 12, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Marge, as she was known to her friends, was born July 19, 1935, and was the sixth child of the union between John and Minnie Holmstedt. She was the favored youngest child of her sibling group and grew up in Paxton, where she lived her entire life.
Marge was baptized Lutheran and converted to Catholicism in 1955. Marge married her high school sweetheart, Alfred Perlinger, on August 6, 1955. In the duration of their marriage, Marge and Alfred were blessed with four children: Christy, Joni (Pelster), Alan, and Tamara (Williams). Marge was a homemaker in the early years raising her four children and attending their activities.
Marge's sense of style and outgoing personality gave her several opportunities to showcase her skill sets in the world of retail. She opened her own clothing store, Marge's Bearable Clothes, which she started in her home, did pop-up sales, and eventually opened a storefront in Paxton and later in Ogallala, Nebraska. Marge later worked at Party Bay Originals, The Fashion Bug, Maxques/Clothesline, Lori Jayne's, and The Clothing Closet until her retirement in October 2013.
Marge's greatest pride was her ten grandchildren, Angela Pelster (Rutherford), Jennifer Pelster (Janssen), Michael Lynn Pelster, Ashley Pelster (Sexson), Joel Pelster, Jenna Perlinger (Schluntz), Quinnton Williams, Colin Williams, Evan Perlinger, and Kristian Williams.
Marge was an avid fan of the Paxton Tigers but would also travel to watch her grandchildren at various activities in Ogallala, North Platte, and Grand Island, never missing an opportunity to cheer loudly from the stands. Marge also has 18 great-grandchildren. All of her grandchildren will affectionately remember Marge for her singing rendition of "You Are My Sunshine."
Marge enjoyed golfing, bowling, Keno, gambling, playing Bridge with her friends, and coffee at the Windy Gap. She also enjoyed attending movies with her "show girls." Marge was a breast cancer survivor and a member of St. Patrick's Altar Society, as well as a member of the Lions Club in Paxton, Nebraska. Marge and her husband Alfred enjoyed singing and attending church together as well as spending time with their children, and grandchildren and having social outings with their friends.
Marge's surviving loved ones include her husband of 68 years, Alfred Perlinger of Paxton; her daughter, Joni (Michael) Pelster of Ogallala, Alan (Maureen) Perlinger of North Platte, and Tamara (Steve) Williams of Grand Island; ten grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, along with one brother.
Marge was preceded in death by her daughter, Christy Perlinger, her parents, one brother, three sisters, and their spouses, with whom she will lovingly be reunited.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests donations be directed toward the Paxton Lions Club and St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Paxton in her memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the Mass will be streamed live.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Paxton with Fr Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, from 2 PM until 4 PM, at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala. Rosary and Wake Service will be at 7 PM on Sunday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
