Marjorie Leona Reincke
Died June 15, 2024
TRAVERSE CITY - Marjorie Leona (née Orcutt) Reincke, 84, of Traverse City, passed away on June 15, 2024, at Munson Hospice House.
Marjorie was born on February 25, 1940, in Williamsburg, Michigan, to Carl and Ella (Stites) Orcutt. On September 7, 1957, at the Keswick Evangelical United Brethren (now United Methodist) Church in Suttons Bay, she married David William Reincke, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2018.
Marjorie lived most of her life in Michigan, particularly in the "pinkie" region. Her mother, a schoolteacher, instilled in her a spirit of adventure, refusing to call challenges problems. Practical and stoic by nature, as a young mother of four and a foster parent of one, Marjorie wasn't afraid of hard work. She balanced her roles as a devoted wife and mother and as a diligent employee with grace and strength.
She learned farming alongside her husband and managed the health challenges of her children and herself with unwavering resilience. Marjorie worked at various places including WTCM radio station, Montgomery Ward, Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility, MMAP, and also volunteered as an EMT in Suttons Bay.
Marjorie's deep faith in Jesus and her cherished Christian heritage were evident in her lifelong service to the church as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and wherever needed. She was grateful to the Lord that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren love Him too.
An accomplished musician, Marjorie played the piano and clarinet and sang in glee clubs, choruses, church choirs, and with the Sweet Adelines. She was a talented artist and skilled in sewing, knitting, and crocheting, bringing joy to herself and those around her. She loved reading, enjoyed musicals, and was an avid bird-watcher and feeder.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Terri Siefen, Debra Moore, John (Denise Pelshaw) Reincke, and Elizabeth (David) Whitt; her grandchildren Christian Siefen (Katie Vroman), Eric Reincke, Vanessa (Andrew) Thompson, Matthew Pelshaw, and Jennifer Whitt; and her great-grandchildren: Lauren Pelshaw, Violet Whitt and Lily Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, David; her siblings: Leslie (Shirley) Orcutt, Betty Hall, and Verna (Eugene) Dixon; her son-in-law William Richard Siefen; and her granddaughter Lindsay Ann Jacobs.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. at Keswick United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 20th. After the service burial will ensue at Keswick Maple Grove Cemetery.
