Mark Aguirre Obituary
August 21, 1963 - September 30, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Steven Aguirre, beloved husband, father, brother, son and uncle.
Mark was born in Oxnard, CA and raised in Novato, CA by Harold Clarence Aguirre and Lorraine Adele Juvet. Mark graduated from San Marin High School.
After graduating, he worked various jobs before moving to the Pacific Northwest to work in construction. His skills took him to Kuai where he helped rebuild the island after Hurricane Iniki's destruction.
When that task was complete, he moved to Marin County to join the family business, HCA Management. Upon retirement, he relocated to Southern Oregon where he spent the past ten years enjoying the beauty of the land, rivers, lakes ocean and mountains.
Mark loved the great outdoors. Being an avid hunter, he enjoyed many hunting trips in a variety of states with longtime friends, hunting with his beloved horse, Cowboy, whenever he was able.
From an early age he loved fishing. After moving to the Oregon Coast,
Mark bought a fishing boat and spent countless hours taking friends and family out to fish and crab.
He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davison, taking three trips to Sturgis which he said was the best time of his life. Mark was a loyal friend who was generous with everyone in his life. He maintained many childhood friendships throughout his final days.
Mark will be remembered for his enthusiastic sense of humor, which was always just under the surface ready to spring out. He found humor in life's situations up until the last days of his life. One of his most important qualities was his moral compass that guided his life.
In his later years, Mark was an avid reader, particularly historical fiction.
He was a great Patriot and supported many Veterans organizations.
Mark is survived by his wife Sondra, mother Lorraine Juvet, sister Chris Gaddini, brother Jon Aguirre, stepson Tyler Wilson, stepsister Jenny Thayer, and stepbrothers Jay and Jim Greenwell.
Our prayers and thoughts are now with Sondra and Mark's entire family. A Celebration of Life is planned in the Spring of 2024 at Mark and Sondra's Ranch in Oregon.

Dear Mark,
Though I have not seen you since the 1980´s, I´m sad for your family and friends. My thoughts are, you will be painfully missed. I know you are fine, god needs you, he takes all the good ones early. My strongest memory of you was while riding the same bus to school. You were older, bigger etc. I was a timid and shy kid, when I moved to Novato from Inverness, my first year of middle school. I didn´t know you well but you were larger than life, from my perspective, and kind. When ever I saw you, through the school bus windshield and knew you were going to be on it that day, a sense of calm ran through me. Your presence, kept the bullies quiet. You were one, the kids like me wanted to be like. Say hello to the other Bahians, they can relax now, you are home.

Gee, this is sad news for me. Mark and I were best friends during our teenage years. We met at 3R School and both lived in Bahia. We had many adventures together: waterskiing, snow skiing, fishing, sailing, running around and getting into trouble. We had a little gang of friends that included Robin Garcia, Suzanne Durkin, Miles Kenny. Those were our formative years. Mark's dad was always good to me and took me along on weekend trips to Lake Tahoe. I remember we use to take my little sailboat out on Petaluma River during wind storms.
The thing I remember most about Mark was that he loved an adventure. We always did crazy stuff and had a lot of fun. I was fortunate to have such a great friend during my teenage years. Of course, now I regret that we lost touch with each other. Last time I saw him we had dinner together in Novato. That must have been about 14 years ago.
Mark was a unique spark of life. He lived life his way. He had a big heart. I will always treasure my memory of our good times together.
