Mark Wayne Baker

It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Wayne Baker announce his sudden passing on August 23, 2025 at Jewish Hospital. Mark was 62 years old. Mark was a man of very few words but loved to spend time with family and friends. Yearly vacations with his siblings and their children meant the world to him. He was always ready for gatherings which included camping, fishing, 4th of July fireworks, and pool parties - It's playable!!!! Mark was a true Louisville Cardinal Sports fan and enjoyed watching them while eating Bonnie & Clyde's pizza. When it came to his grandchildren, he was the best Pawpaw. Breakfast dates to sitting at ballfields in the heat, you could see the biggest grin on his face. His love for a good bargain all started in 1980 with the blue light specials at Kmart on Dixie Highway. After 17 years in retail, he decided to get his hands dirty and went to work for Ford Motor Company Truck Plant in 1997 where he was a proud union member for 28 years. Mark will be lovingly remembered by his children Mark Brandon (Kayla), Travis Wayne and his lifelong friend and mother of his children, Sandra Cannon Baker. Grandchildren Izabella Grace, Denver Lamar and Vallee SueAnn. Siblings Brenda Williams (Roger Dean), Glenda Williams (Lewis), Everett Baker (Anita), Roger Lee Baker (Teresa). Along with many loving nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Alfred and Lena Frances Baker, In-laws Elmer Lee and Edith Louise Cannon, Brother Gary Baker, Nephew Roger Dean Williams Jr, Niece Amanda Leigh Baker, Great Nephew Raymond James Downey. Visitations will be held at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway on Friday, August 29, 2025 10:00 am – 8:00 pm. The funeral service is Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery 10917 Dixie Highway. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Shirley's Way 10966 Dixie Highway, Valley Station 40272 in honor of Mark Wayne Baker.
