Mark Bauman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home on Feb. 23, 2026.
Mark D. Bauman, 50, of Geneva, Indiana, passed away Friday evening, February 20, 2026, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Jay County.

Mark was born August 1, 1975, in Bluffton, Indiana, to Douglas L. and Marcia L. (Huffer) Bauman. He married the love of his life, Donita J. Downey on August 5, 2000, in Elwood, Indiana, and together the two have built a beautiful life.

Mark was a 1994 graduate of South Adams High School and a lifelong resident of Adams County. He dedicated much of his life to family and his community. Mark worked for 25 years at Berne Ready Mix and formerly at Simon's Manufacturing. He was involved in his family farm for many years.

A devoted supporter of Adams County 4-H and youth athletics; coaching baseball and football for many years. Mark served as an IHSAA basketball official across Indiana for over 30 years and drove a school bus part-time for South Adams Schools. His commitment to his community left a lasting impact on countless young people and families.

Mark grew up in the First Mennonite Church in Berne, Indiana. He later joined the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur.

Above all else, Mark loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, proud father, son, brother, uncle and friend who found his greatest joy in the everyday moments spent with those he loved. His steady presence, steadfast strength, and generous heart will be missed every single day by all who knew him. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family in the barn, mushroom hunting in the woods and traveling on family vacations. He enjoyed watching all sports, and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed rooting for the Purdue Boilermakers. He loved meeting family and friends at Chatt Bar.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donita Bauman of Geneva; three children, Logan D. Bauman, Lukas L. Bauman, Lydia J. Bauman and his beloved dog Bruce, all of Geneva; his parents, Douglas Bauman and Marcia Bauman McUne; two brothers, Brad Bauman of Lafayette and Nick (Jessica) Bauman of Geneva; one sister, Gwen (Randy) Pursley of Columbia City; his mother-in-law, Nancy Downey of Geneva; and seven nieces and nephews: Emery and Oaklee Pursley; Camdyn and Alyxandra Bauman; Dylan Downey; and Dalton and Makenzie Andrew. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Terry Downey.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva, Indiana. Friday, February 27, 2026, there will be additional visitation held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the 11:30 am Funeral Service at the same location, officiated by Father Jacob Runyon. A Christian Burial will be held immediately following the service at West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.

Memorials may be made to the Bauman children or the Adams County 4-H Program.
