Mark Bocian

Mark A. Bocian, age 72, of Pittsburgh, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Beloved husband for 50 years of Chris (Holmes) Bocian, lost his battle with cancer.
Loving father of Brian Bocian (Maria), Keith Bocian (Sarah), and Matt Bocian; grandfather of Desiree, Noah, JP, Allison, Lillian, and Clark; brother of Bonnie Breit (Albert), Mike Bocian (Debbie), and Tim Bocian (Amy).
Mark "by the book" Bocian as he was known throughout his career as a Pittsburgh Paramedic (serving 43 years in many capacities) was anything but "by the book" in his private life. Nothing was off limits for joking & antics and he was hard pressed to take much seriously, even when he probably should have. Teasing, joking, smiles & laughter was the way he showed his love for people. His sense of humor was matched only by his calm poise under pressure & his unwavering faithfulness to his loving wife Chris. His hard work ethic & stoic resolve can be seen in his three sons in how they care for others in highly stressful situations with that same poise & confidence. His favorite pastime was cruising, spending time up the "Rock" with friends & family and winding people up! He had a quiet faith that rests confidently upon Jesus Christ. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and then Ascension Lutheran. A loving husband, father, pappy, uncle, brother & had life long friends. He now rests in Jesus until the day of the Resurrection, as "by the book Bocian" or "Handsome Mark" (as he liked to introduce himself as) is written in God's Book of Life.
Family will welcome friends from 2-4 & 6-8 on Thurs. July 31 with an EMS Memorial Service Presentation @ 8:00 at Schellhaas & Sons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1600 Stone Mansion Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143 (Franklin Park/Sewickley). Funeral Service will be held on Fri Aug 1 at 11:00 in Ascension Lutheran Church, 8225 Peebles Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. (Please Meet at Church).
