Mark E. Bowers, age 70, of Groveport, Ohio, passed away on August 2, 2025. He was born July 14, 1955, in Columbus to Frederick P. and Lois V. (Doss) Bowers of Canal Winchester.
A 1973 graduate of Bloom-Carroll High School, Mark was a talented and well-known carpenter by trade. Raised on a farm, he developed a lifelong passion for farming-working alongside his father and brother in his youth, and later helping his cousin, Roger Bowers, whenever he could.
Mark had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially loved hunting for arrowheads, for which he had a remarkable eye. He took pride in his extensive collection, storing his finds in custom cases he built himself. He also enjoyed welding, junk art, antiques, and was known for his ability to fix anything-always preferring to do the work himself. A perfectionist at heart, Mark was highly organized, always active, and could outwork just about anyone.
He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and a passion for drag racing and classic cars. One of his greatest joys was restoring his 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass, a car that had passed through several family members before returning to him. With the help of his son Michael and others, the car was recently restored, and though he only got to drive it twice, he was incredibly proud of the result.
Mark was known for his cheerful spirit, easy-going personality, and ever-present smile. His laid-back nature and happy demeanor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick (2009); mother, Lois (2016); and brother, Paul F. Bowers (2019). He is survived by his sister, Linda K. (Paul D.) McCoy; sister-in-law, Janet E. Bowers; dear friend, Jody Darling; and his sons, Michael S. Bowers and Shane (Michele) Bowers. He is also survived by nephew Andrew Bowers, niece Brandy Bowers Reese, grandson Jack Bowers, granddaughter Emma Bowers, great-niece Kristina Seymour, and great-nephew Patrick Reese. Additional surviving family includes his aunt Geneva Morgan, uncle Troy Slone, and numerous cousins and friends.
