Mark Stephen Boyd, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 15, 2025, at The McDowell Hospital. Born on April 27, 1964, in McDowell County, Mark lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family.
As a co-owner of Boyd Stone, Mark built a successful career that reflected his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He was well-respected in his profession, known for his commitment to quality and his ability to connect with others in the community.
Beyond his professional achievements, He enjoyed trying to play the guitar, a pursuit that brought him joy and satisfaction. His love for adventure was evident in his passion for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, a pastime that allowed him to explore the open roads and savor the thrill of freedom.
Mark’s greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family. He was a doting husband to his beloved wife, Lisa Robinson Boyd, and a proud father to his daughters, Breanna Mahn and her husband Theodore, Heather Hannan and Tracey Buchanan, and Rachael Hollifield and her husband Travis, as well as his son Chad Boyd. His grandchildren—Colson, Kinley, Carter, Ashlyn, Adalynn, Brayden, Taylar, Lilly and Ian — held a special place in his heart, their laughter and presence lighting up his life. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Creedon and Lucyanna.
Mark is survived by his loving family, including his brothers Randy Boyd and his wife Alice, Chris Boyd and his wife Tracy, and his sisters Dawn Boyd and Jan Boyd. He was predeceased by his father, Harold Boyd, and his mother, Dorothy Pittman Boyd.
Throughout his life, Mark made a lasting impact on all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be dearly missed. As we remember Mark Stephen Boyd, let us cherish the memories he crafted with love and the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of his family and friends.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
