Mark Burns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Willwerscheid Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Grand Avenue Chapel on Dec. 14, 2024.
Mark Thaddeus Burns, 65, entered eternal rest on December 12, 2024, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, having suffered from sudden cardiac arrest. Mark was born on June 24, 1959, a date that marked the beginning of a life devoted to faith, family, and the great outdoors.
Mark was the cherished life partner of Christine Sagstetter, with whom he shared a profound love that sustained and enriched both of their lives. He was a devoted father to his son Robert Burns and his partner Leah, and daughter Kelly Vo and her husband Lance. Mark adored his grandchildren, Jaxson, Alexis, Logan, and Brynley, who were a source of immense pride and joy.
Mark was the beloved brother of Anita (Cliff) Twaroski, Hanna (Mark) Younce, V.R. James P. Burns, Daniel (Rachel) Burns, and George (Shelly) Burns, as well as sister-in-law Dora Burns. He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. Sr. and Anita Burns, and his brother, John G. Burns Jr. Mark was deeply connected to the Sagstetter family and was preceded in death by Carol and Richard Sagstetter. His family roots extended back to grandparents Robert and Mary Wood and George and Ann Burns, who helped shape the legacy of love, hard work, and faith that Mark carried forward.
Professionally, Mark excelled as a project manager in construction and real estate, where his planning and dedication were evident in every project he undertook. Personally, he was a man of many passions. Mark loved athletics, hunting, and fishing, finding solace and adventure in the great outdoors. He was a true sports enthusiast, always eager to cheer on a game.
A man of deep faith, Mark was devoted to Catholic education and his Roman Catholic beliefs, which guided his life and interactions with others. He was known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family and friends. Mark's presence made gatherings of family and friends all the more enjoyable.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Church of St. Agnes in St. Paul, Minnesota followed by luncheon in Schuler Hall and then interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a wake service on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, with a Rosary service at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mark's honor to St. Agnes Church, St. Louis King of France Church, or The Down Syndrome Association of MN.
Mark will be remembered as a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His life was a testament to the values of faith, family, country, friendship and hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

I wish to offer condolences to all those who are close to Mark. Our discussions about fishing, hunting and politics are memorable and in some cases perhaps unique. LOL at this difficult time may faith carry all of those who are close to Mark

I meet Mark when we worked at the window plant. Being friends for over 25 years has left a pleasant memory of a person who was always willing to help.

Mark was a great guy, I met him years ago when his mother past away, however my connection with him was at the Assumption Church, which he attended when he was in the area and helped me with being an usher when needed. he will be missed. My sympathy to his family, Richard M Kueppers

Mark was my friend, my big brother, my mentor, a fellow Army Man, and at times, my therapist. He was all of that and so much more. Mark was one of the most caring and giving individuals I've ever had the honor to know. For well over 20 years, he was always there for me and my son. As a single father, I had his unconditional support. Words can't describe what that has always meant to me, and I reminded my big brother of that every chance I got!

The news of Mark's passing has left me absolutely lost. I still remember our recent conversation, where we did like we always do, cover everything! That moment means even more to me right now. There were time when I would call Mark or he would call me, and we'd be on the phone 3 to 5 hours later, finally acknowledging that we both better get to sleep. I will miss our in-depth conversations and those moments we shared very much. My spirit was always lifted by Mark's takes on family, history, politics, Our Army, and especially, theology. A true Man of God!

All one can ever ask of a real friend is for them to see who you truly are. Mark saw me in every way shape and form, and I saw him as the amazing man he always was. Mark is loved by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to be blessed to spend time with him. My big brother is gone but never forgotten, as he lives on in all of our memories.

HOOAH!!!!
