Mark Christopher Cagle, 67 years young, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, surrounded by love. Born in Winston Salem, NC, he was the son of the late Valeria Kivett Cagle and the late A. Wayne Cagle.
Mark lived a remarkable life, growing up in Kansas City in the Midwest before eventually settling on the East Coast in
Norfolk, Virginia. His entrepreneurial spirit and industrious vigor saw him through multiple vocations, making him a valued resource to his employers, including Farm Fresh and, most recently, Harris Teeter, where he trained, led, and worked with all employees. Mark was a patriotic individual, with a deep admiration for President Ronald Reagan, which fueled his love for his country. As a lifelong sports fan, Mark faithfully cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, teams he adored from his Midwestern youth. Upon moving east, he quickly adopted a love for the Baltimore Orioles. His passion for sports was matched by his dedication to his community. In 1995, he became an active member of Church of the Redeemer in Virginia Beach, where he served the community, including its children and youth. In 2013, he began attending the Hampton Roads Church, where he continued his service and dedication to Christ over the last eleven years of his life. It was at the Hampton Roads Church that Mark met the love of his life, Lauren. The two married in 2018, creating a beautiful home together filled with love for God and each other. Mark's legacy is one of commitment, love, and service, leaving behind a testament to the strength of his character and the depth of his devotion to both his family and his faith.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Lauren Cagle, and his cherished son Chris Cagle, along with Chris's loving wife, Rochelle and their six beautiful children: Breeana, Benjamin, Bella, Birdie, Beaux, and Bonnie. Mark's legacy lives on through them, and the loving memories they shared will continue to be a source of comfort and joy for the family. Additionally, the memories of the "Best Bud" will forever be in the hearts of his sister Debbie Crouch and her husband Terry, who cherish the dearly held moments they spent with Mark. These precious memories serve as a testament to the deep bond they shared, and they will continue to keep his spirit alive in their hearts. Mark's legacy of love and friendship will be an enduring source of comfort and inspiration for Debbie and Terry.
Furthermore, the countless memories of "Uncle Fluffy" will be cherished by his sister, Lynne Zotzmann, and her husband Larry, along with their daughter, Chrissy "Faith" Zotzmann-Brown and her significant other, Todd Morton, and their grandsons, Jameson and Chase; and along with their daughter, Jennifer "Hope" Zotzmann, and their granddaughters, Savannah and Isabelle. Respect will continue to be held by his brother Wayne Cagle, along with his wife Perri and their daughter Ellen. In addition to his immediate family, Mark was "adopted" by Lauren's family, the Pidgeons, Hamills, and LeBlancs, who will always be grateful for his delightful, fun, and hilarious memories. His warm and engaging personality brought joy and laughter to every gathering, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His ability to create cherished moments and forge deep connections made him an invaluable part of the family. Mark remains an integral part of this close-knit family, ensuring that the bonds of love and remembrance endure. His presence will be forever felt in the stories shared and the laughter echoed through the years. The Cagles, Crouches, Zotzmanns, Mortons, Pidgeons, Hamills, LeBlancs and other loved ones will continue to honor Mark's memory, cherishing the joy and warmth he brought into their lives.
