Mark Ryan Childers, 52, of Doddsville, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville.
Mark was born October 6, 1971, in Hinds County, to Jane Holeman Childers and Luther Childers. He was raised in Doddsville and graduated from North Sunflower Academy and Mississippi Delta Community College. Mark started working on the farm with his grandfather when he was a little boy and worked with him until he was 27 years old. He loved family, Ole Miss, hunting, fishing, and all things country boys enjoyed. Mark was a devoted father; his son was his entire world. He loved watching his son play ball and spending time with him. Mark valued his friendships and was always fun to be around.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Luther Childers.
Mark is survived by his mother, Jane Holeman Childers of Doddsville; son, James Luke Childers of Minter City; brother, Scott Childers (Dana) of Hernando; sister, Traci Erwin (Mitch) of Collierville, Tennessee, two nephews, Carson Childers and Bailey Ussery; three nieces, Callie Love (Turner), Olivia Erwin, and Sidney Erwin; two great nephews, Will Tyler and Luke; and two great nieces, Ava and Lexi.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2024, from 10:30 am until 11:30 am, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in Linn Methodist Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Sunflower Academy, 148 Academy Rd., Drew, MS 38737 or Renegades Baseball Team, 36 Dunn Rd., Boyle, MS 38730.
