Palm City - Mark DiStaola, 72, of Palm City, FL & formerly of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025.

Mark is a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School & Ithaca College.

Mark retired from National Grid where he served as a Power Delivery Supervisor.

Mark was a NCAA college basketball official for several conferences. One of the things he liked most about being an official was the many friendships he made and the camaraderie they all shared together.

Mark fulfilled his dream of retiring in the state of Florida. He enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery, the ocean breezes and traveling throughout the state. He also loved going to Miami Dolphin games.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Alfred & Olga DiStaola; and his father-in-law, Raymond C. Sova.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Sova) DiStaola; and his devoted rescue dog, Kolby. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Sova; brothers-in-law, Fred Sova & Robert Sova (Elaine), one niece, four nephews, several cousins, and many long-term close friends.

There will be no services per Mark's request.

So sorry to hear of Mark's passing. Mark and I shared many memories as basketball officials. He is among the best ever from Syracuse. He was a genuine friend both on and off the court. Condolences to Linda and family.

Mark May you rest in peace. You were the "basketball guy" in grade school at St Vincents, we went grade school through grade 9 before you went on to bigger and better things at Ludden. You married a wonderful girl and had a great life. Linda I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you both.
