Mark Lee Dutton born abroad in Abu Dhabi on July 15, 1983 to Angela and Loyd Dutton. Mark spent his first 5 years in Abu Dhabi and had fond memories of swimming on Christmas Day in the warm Middle Eastern weather. The family moved to Whitesboro Texas in the late 1980's. During his school age years, Mark enjoyed fishing with his dad at Lake Texoma, riding four wheelers and helping his dad on the family's cattle ranch. In high school Mark was an exceptional football player for the Whitesboro Bearcats. He graduated with a bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 2005, and was always a proud "Aggie". He was a college football fanatic and loved cheering on his beloved Aggies. After college Mark worked for his Alma mater as a contract and grants administrator. He moved to Auburn, Alabama in 2007 and worked at Auburn University in the Office of Sponsored Programs. Mark met his former wife (Heather Stewart) in Auburn and they were married on Inlet Beach, Florida on June 5, 2010. Together they had 2 boys Jack Stewart (2012) and Elijah Mark (2015). His boys were the light of his life.
Mark completed his post-graduate degree at Columbia Southern and obtained his Masters of Business Administration in 2013.
Mark and his family moved to North Carolina in 2015 to advance his career in higher education. He worked at UNC Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University as a director of finance and business administration. Mark had a brilliant mind and was driven to excel in his professional life.
Mark was a devoted, loving father to his 2 boys (Jack and Elijah). He was a Scout leader and he and Jack placed first in the Pinewood derby in 2019. He had a passion for coaching his boys in soccer,basketball and baseball. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations to the beach and Walt Disney World.
He is preceded in death by his parents Loyd and Angela Dutton and his brother Allen Dutton. He is survived by 2 sons Jack and Elijah (Eli), aunts Wanda Dutton and Linda (Audie) Cundiff, and uncle Lester Dutton.
