Mark Douglas "Fergie" Ferguson, 37, of Marion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:30 p.m., February 16, 2025, at his home.
Mark was born on February 7, 1988, in Carbondale to Mark L. and Barbara (Leonard) Ferguson and just celebrated his 37th birthday with his family and friends at Spillertown Baptist Church.
Mark was a 2007 graduate of Marion High School. After graduating, Mark joined the workforce and worked at O'Charley's in Marion and later at Panera Bread Co. in Carbondale. Mark had a strong work ethic and eventually became a acting General Manager for Panera. His job sent him across the country and into Canada, opening new Panera stores.
Mark loved football and was an avid New Orleans Saints fan. He enjoyed watching games and keeping up with his favorite player, Drew Breese. He also enjoyed participating in Fantasy Football every year. Mark also enjoyed going to concerts and going to watch his musician J. Rody Walston.
Mark is survived by his father and step-mother, Mark L. and Rebecca Ferguson; grandparents, Vernon Ferguson, Tommy Phelps, Dennis and Ruth Hulsey all of Marion; siblings, Ashley Ferguson of Marion, Autumn Sargent of Energy, Morgan Ferguson of Marion, and Josh Leonard of Marion; nieces, Nevaeh Riddle of Marion, Aubrey Ferguson of Marion, Madalynn, Makenzie, Melody Sargent of Energy and Piper Stevens of St. Louis; nephews, Gavin Riddle of West Frankfort, Travis Smith of Johnston City, Jesse Key of Marion, Maverick Sargent of Energy, Levi Taylor of West Frankfort, and one on the way, Elijah Mark Ferguson. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Leonard; two grandmothers, Wanda Ferguson and Cynthia Phelps.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 24th, 2025, at Spillertown Baptist Church with Pastors Steve Shea and Darrell Wimberly officiating. Interment will follow at Davis Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
