Mark Garner Obituary

Mark Simmons Garner passed away peacefully Sunday 08/27/2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He died due to kidney failure.

Mark was born on February 27, 1955 to John Ted Garner and Edna Mae Amonette in Rexburg, Idaho.

Mark served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Edinburgh, Scotland Mission.

After his mission he met and married Iris Arlene Valentine on May 26, 1978 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. Together they raised a beautiful family of 6 children and 19 grandchildren.

Mark started at a very early age working at the family business, Garner Concrete. Mark was an avid entrepreneur throughout his life. His work took him to Florida and his kids enjoyed spending their younger years with their mother's Florida family. Mark and Iris returned to Rexburg and continued to raise their family in the gospel. Having 4 sons to serve LDS missions and all their children getting sealed in the Temple.

Mark enjoyed serving in the church which and he held numerous callings. He served as Ward Mission Leader, Executive Secretary, Ward Clerk, High Council, Bishop, Sunday School President and Temple Ordinance Worker.

Mark is survived by his kids Justin (Megan) Garner, Tara(Mike) Bennett, Travis (Tonia) Garner, Blake (Nicole) Garner, Dallas (Kassi) Garner and Cassidee Garner. And their children.

He was preceded in death by his father John Ted Garner, his mother Edna Mae Amonette Garner, brother Michael Ted Garner, nephews Jared Garner and Nicholas Weaver.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday September 2nd with a viewing at 10:30 am followed by the funeral at 12pm. At the Rexburg Henry's Fork Stake Center located at 1508 West 3000 North Rexburg, Idaho

Graveside services will be help directly after at the Rexburg Cemetary.
