It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Joseph Godfrey, who left us on August 30, 2025. Mark was born on June 12, 1956, and throughout his 69 years, he led a life full of love, laughter, and service. Known as "Coach", Mark was an embodiment of generosity and intellect, always ready to provide a sense of humor to brighten the darkest of days. A testament to his personality, one of his enduring lessons to those around him was, "No matter where you go, there you are."
Mark leaves behind a strong legacy of family bonds and shared laughter. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Godfrey; his daughters, Nichole Godfrey-Hulse and Angela Godfrey; his grandchildren, Joey, Barbara, Liv, and Ian Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Godfrey, father, Joseph Glaczenski, step-father, Earl Godfrey and step-mother Judy Glaczenski.
A committed volunteer at Knights of Columbus, Mark had a deep love for sports, particularly the LA Dodgers. He relished attending concerts, baseball games, and family gatherings, always adding to the joy and fun with his hilarious anecdotes and stories.
Mark's greatest accomplishment was undoubtedly his family - his children and grandchildren. His legacy lives on in them, reminding us that he was not only a decent man but also a good husband, a loyal friend, and a cherished Dad and Papa.
A viewing for Mark will be held on September 18, 2025, at 4PM-8PM and Rosary at 6PM, at Saint Francis Roman Catholic Church, 900 H. Street, Bakersfield CA. This will be followed by a funeral service on September 19, 2025, at 10AM, at the same location. As we come together to celebrate his life, we also ensure his memories continue to bless our lives and hearts.
Mark's passing is a reminder that humor and love can light up even the most challenging of times. His lesson of valuing the present, celebrating the simple joys of life, and the constant nurturing of family bonds will forever remain etched in our hearts. Mark will live on in his children and grandchildren, continuing to guide and inspire us.

40+ years of friendship. So many games watched. So many games played. So many concerts attended. Infinite laughs and great conversations. I once told Mark my life wouldn´t be as interesting without Mark Godfrey as part of it. Sadly I now know how true that is. You are missed.
