Mark Goldfarb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Return Home Green Funeral Home - Auburn on Mar. 2, 2026.
We regretfully announce the passing of Mark Joel Goldfarb, an incredibly charismatic and courageous man, on February 24, 2026. Mark was born on September 1, 1953, in New York, NY, to the late Kenneth and Barbara Goldfarb. He spent his formative years in Monticello, NY, before moving to New York City for his education at New York University and Brooklyn Law School. In 1989, he settled with his family in Croton-on-Hudson, where he became a beloved fixture of the community for over 35 years.

For 47 years, Mark was a dedicated attorney who approached his advocacy with understanding and compassion. Outside the courtroom, he was a man of diverse interests: a devotee of cinema and marathon baseball sessions, a creator of garden sculptures born from his "dumpster finds," and a voracious reader. He was a staff favorite at the Croton Free Library, where he left behind a list of book holds and likely some late fees, a tribute to his ongoing curiosity and desire to never stop learning. An athlete at heart, he spent years on the tennis courts and the Central Park softball diamonds with his Choice Parts teammates. Above all, Mark was a legendary listener; his non-judgmental presence was a gift to everyone he met. His world was rounded out by a revolving door of poodles (and some cats and rabbits), a love of ice cream, falling asleep on a deck in the sun, and a deep, practical commitment to environmental conservation both in and out of the home.

Mark is survived by his wife, Joan Wilson; his daughters Zoe and Madeleine; his sons-in-law, Nick Siemaska and Aaron Brunmeier; and his grandchildren, Henry, Margot, and Georgie Siemaska. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Barbara Goldfarb.

Mark's legacy of courage, wit, and genuine thoughtfulness remains a guiding light for all of us. We invite you to honor his memory by sharing your stories and photos on his memorial page. In his spirit, we ask that you embrace each day with the same resolve that led Mark to declare life "Never Better."
