Mark Jeffrey Grabenbauer was born December 3, 1956 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Hubert and Virginia "Ginny" (Specht) Grabenbauer. After graduating from Marshalltown High School, he went on to trade school. His entire career was dedicated to Bruin Manufacturing as a machinist from high school until his retirement in November 2020.
Mark was quite the prankster and "always getting older but never growing up." He enjoyed a good laugh and believed life was too short to take too seriously. He loved kids and was truly just a big kid himself. Mark could most often be found enjoying a beer outside, playing 45's in his garage, farming, setting up disco lights or playing with his dogs. He loved the Toy Story and Austin Powers movies and Ferbies. He was well-known for his elaborate all-white lights Christmas displays, incorporating music and motion long before it became popular. He was also incredibly caring and enjoyed taking care of others. Mark was a great neighbor, dad, grandpa and friend and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
In eternal life, Mark is reunited with his dad Hubert, his mom Ginny, his sister Lisa Grabenbauer, his cat Tiger and his beloved dog, Maggie (#1).
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Lainey (Stephanie) Baker of Overland Park, KS, Melissa (Duane) Rogers of Mulberry, KS, Brooke Brady (Lowell Blaylock) of Ankeny, IA and Blake (Rachel) Brady of Cedar Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren: Byron, Riley, Addysin, Carly, Brayden, Carlos, Bailey, Jackson and Colton; his brother, Al Grabenbauer of Marshalltown, IA; stepdad, Dick Ferneau of Marshalltown, IA and his beloved dogs: Jelly Bean, Rusty, Trooper and Maggie.
Mark had a deep passion for all animals, and his family would like any memorial contributions to be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown. Three of his dogs are also available to adopt for anyone interested in providing a loving home and the same care and compassion Mark felt for them.
