Mark Hersh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brooks Funeral Care - Des Moines on Sep. 7, 2022.
Mark Richard Hersh, 71, passed away on September 5, 2022 at home in Des Moines, Iowa. Mark was born July 29, 1951, in North Hollywood, CA. After high school graduation he traveled the county with a band where he met the love of his life Marilyn, of whom he was married to for 48 years. Mark loved his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, and they will always remember the fun games he played with them. Most importantly Mark was a follower of Jesus, dedicating his later years in life to better understand the Bible through personal study times and journaling. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Teri Hill. He is survived by wife Marilyn of Des Moines; daughters Gina Hill and Sara Hersh of Des Moines; son Matt (Miriam) Hill of St. Paul, MN; grandsons Austin, Ryan and Aaron; granddaughters Kendra, Cassidy and Lauren; and great grandkids Brynlee, Kylan, and Kannon. A private memorial service will be held. The family suggest that contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Marilyn & Family. I am sorry for your Great Loss. Mark was such an Amazing man to work with & as a friend. He always had a smile & a great story to tell. I remember when he was a driver on the Super Target route in KC & I went on the route with him to meet My Super Target managers as he delivered. We had so much fun that day & it is a memory that I will always cherish. He was such a wonderful energy to be around. I send my prayers to all of you. He was such a Blessing to us all.

Mark was just a great guy. A pleasure to work with and always available to help. Certainly gone too soon, I wish his family comfort. It was an honor to have met and worked with him.

Marilyn and family, Mark will forever be our co-worker at Loffredo's. He was such a great friend! We could always go to Mark for anything and he would do his best to help. I'm so glad he became a Christian. I have as well at age 50! Good to know we will meet again someday! Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family during this difficult time.

I´ve lived next door to Mark & Marilyn for 15 years; Mark was a wonderful neighbor and a great person to know. I feel lucky to have known him-he was a lover of animals, his family, and grilling out in the summer. He liked to work on his house and was always willing to help others. He gave my chihuahua a nickname and used it every chance he got. He was a fixture in the neighborhood-he will be missed.
