Mark A. Johnson, age 68, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Formerly of the western suburbs of Chicago, IL, Mark also spent time living on Sanibel Island, FL, before settling in Bonita Springs for the last two years of his life.
Born June 1, 1956, in Chicago, IL, Mark was the son of the late Russell and LaVerne (Netzel) Johnson. He was a proud graduate of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, where he earned a Bachelor of Physical Education degree. Mark enjoyed a fulfilling career as a real estate appraiser.
Mark was devoted to his faith, his wife Vicki, and to his children and grandchildren. Mark and Vicki were married for nearly 45 years and had persevered through many challenges together while always prioritizing love for each other. Mark loved watching sunsets on Sanibel with his wife.
Mark was known for his passion for fitness, his love of BBQing, and his love for his favorite soccer team Manchester City F.C. Mark loved to talk about sports with his grandchildren and always stayed up to date on their sports too. Mark was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren. Mark spent many hours while his children were growing up coaching, traveling for sports, and driving to hundreds of practices. He was also a faithful member of New Hope Ministries in Naples, FL. Mark's devotion to family was unmatched, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and support.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki M. (Jungels) Johnson; his loving children, Eric (Emily) Johnson of Kalamazoo, MI, Elissa (Jon) Karn of Downers Grove, IL, and Evan (Jessica) Johnson of Lacey, WA; his brothers, Keith (Cathy) Johnson of WA, and Craig (Kim) Johnson of IL; and six cherished grandchildren.
