Age 69 of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois.

Born October 19, 1955 in Morris, Illinois, Mark was the son of Milford and Lorraine (Guard) Jorstad. He was raised in Nettle Creek Township, attended Nettle Creek Grade School, and graduated from Newark High School with the Class of 1973. On August 20, 1977, Mark married Peg Garling in Morris, which they called home for the past 47 years.

He was a hardworking man, proud of being a 4th generation farmer, and had just completed his 53rd planting season. Mark was a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church and felt a great sense of civic responsibility. He served on both the Nettle Creek Grade School and Morris Community High School Boards of Education, was a long time Morris Fire Department Trustee, and was the tournament director of the prestigious Morris Shootout for five years.

Mark was an avid sports fan, particularly of high school and college basketball. He loved watching the Chicago White Sox and Bulls, and was a die hard fan of the University of Illinois Fighting Illini. Above all else, Mark was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family always came first, rarely missing a game or activity and later following his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Mark's outgoing personality and love of being with people made him truly unforgettable, and he will always be remembered as the life of the party.

Survivors include his wife, Peg Jorstad of Morris, and two sons: Chip (Jennifer) Jorstad of Champaign, Illinois and Keith (Meaghan) Jorstad of Shorewood, Illinois; two grandchildren: Harper and Oskar Jorstad; one sister, Jill (Steve) Hagen of Appleton, Wisconsin, and one brother, Greg (Patti) Jorstad of Morris; one sister-in-law, Sheryl (Tom) Dzuryak of Morris, and several nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Lorraine Jorstad, and his mother and father-in-law, Charles and Margaret Garling.

Per Mark's wishes, cremation rites are being accorded.

Private graveside services will be held, and the family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life at Morris Country Club, 2615 US Route 6, in Morris on Sunday, July 13, 2025 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mark's memory to the Nettle Creek Parent Teacher's Organization or to the charity of the Donor's Choosing.
