Mark Kline Obituary
Mark Kline, a Fountain Hills resident for nearly 40 years, passed away on December 2, 2025. He was born to Jeannette Freda Caplan Kline and Joseph Milton Kline in Pittsburgh, PA and was a lifelong Steelers fan.
Mark liked to say he "made all the right mistakes in life." He graduated from Carnegie University with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, and later earned an MBA from Penn State University. He was also an alumni of Heidelberg University in Germany. As a captain in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, he was stationed in Germany and the DMZ of Korea.
Mark met his wife of 42 years, Bonita (Bonnie) Pierce Kline, in Corning, NY while he was an International Marketing Specialist in Fiber Optics for Corning Inc. He later transferred to Arizona as Regional Sales Manager for semiconductors. Mark traveled throughout the world, but often said he found the best place to live when he spotted Fountain Hills, Arizona from the window of a plane.
Mark and Bonnie explored the Southwest with their children, Amberley Jeannette Kline of Phoenix and Adam Justin Tompkins, now in Tokyo. Mark loved being a dad, uncle and grandfather. He is survived by his granddaughter Ariana Halona and daughter-in-law Starrla Tompkins, in Ithaca, NY; his sister Phyllis (Larry) Seadler of Atwater, OH; and his brother's family in Wyoming. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Bruce Kline.
In later years, Mark worked for Home Depot and Target. He was a proud member of VFW Post 7507 of Fountain Hills, where a Celebration of Mark's life will be held on Dec. 19 at 3pm. Donations can be made to the VFW Post.
