Mark Klug Obituary

Mark John Klug of Moundsville, West Virginia died peacefully in Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family. Mark was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on February 2nd 1952 to the late Philip and Mary Estep Klug.

Mark attended Saint Francis grade school and went on to pursue his faith attending Saint Joseph Preparatory Seminary in Vienna, West Virginia. With an affinity for family and home he returned to Moundsville and finished high school at Bishop Donahue High School. Mark began working on the various waterline projects with his brothers and father in their hometown and eventually traveling throughout the Ohio Valley.

Mark met the love of his life Christy LaFlam Klug and married in 1976. They have one daughter Julie Klug Fecat. Beginning early on in their marriage Christy developed numerous health problems including severe rheumatoid arthritis. Mark devoted every resource to her care and was the most dedicated of caregivers.

Around the late seventies and early 80's together with his father Philip, brother Dennis, brother Richard and sister Mary Kay they started a small asphalt paving company Klug Brothers Inc. They started small with driveway repairs yet grew the business for over 46 years paving roadways throughout the surrounding counties in West Virginia.

Until the time Mark began his courageous battle with cancer he stayed very active as a Eucharistic Minister and lector at St Francis Xavier parish in Moundsville, West Virginia. Mark was a talented musician and loved playing guitar and piano. He played in a band with his older brother Rich. Mark also loved his motorcycle, he taught his daughter Julie how to ride and they enjoyed many rides together. For certain Mark's greatest accomplishment was his family. He was the most devoted husband Daddy and Pappy to his three granddaughters Holly, Heidi, and Hailey. He is so very loved and respected and admired for his constant faith and what a hard-working selfless man that he was for his family. He will be missed so deeply by everyone who knew him, especially all of his girls Granny, Julie, Holly, Heidi, Haley, and especially his devoted son in law Eric. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Philip and Mary Estep Klug and his older brother Richard Klug (Barb). Surviving are his wife of 49 years Christy LaFlam Klug and daughter Julie (Eric) Fecat and his sister Mary C. Klug (Bill) and brother Dennis (Amy) Klug.

There will be a visitation for Mark on Thursday March 5th, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home - Lutes and Kirby Vance Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Friday March 6th, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery following the Mass.
