Mark LINEHAN Obituary

LINEHAN, Mark E. Passed away, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, peacefully, at his home. He was 71. Born on October 5, 1954, in Fall River, MA, to the late Edmund G. Linehan and Rhoda A. Linehan. Along with his sister, Margaret (affectionately known as Peg), he comes from a family rooted in humor, laughter and love.

A graduate of Norwood High School (1972), Harvard University (1976) and the Northeastern D'Amore- McKim School of Business (1978), Mark was not only an exceptional student but also an outstanding athlete. A star pitcher, first at Norwood and then at Harvard, advancing all the way to the College World Series in 1974.

After graduating from college, Mark began his career in finance holding positions at both Arthur Andersen and the First National Bank of Boston, where he met his wife, Janet. In 1984, Mark and Janet set off on an incredible nine-year journey to Asia. Along with their two oldest children, Katharine and Daniel, they experienced wonderful travel adventures. In 1993, Mark and Janet moved their family back to the U.S. and settled in Dover, MA, expanding their family with their third child, Edmund. Mark took pride in being an active member of the Dover-Sherborn community. Whether it was coaching his kid's sports teams or leading the DS Boosters committee, Mark truly enjoyed being involved.

In their later years, Mark and Janet moved to Cape Cod for Mark's next career chapter in community banking. Mark didn't just find a job, he found a special community with wonderful friends and colleagues. Through those connections, Mark and Janet discovered the many golf courses and fun restaurants the Cape had to offer. Mark loved it most when his children and grandchildren came to visit for summer days at the pool, holidays they would spend at home and everything in between.

Mark was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Janet; and is survived by his three loving children: daughter, Katharine; son, Daniel and his wife, Julie; and grandsons, Jack and Liam; son, Edmund and his wife, Louisa. He will also be dearly missed by his sister, Margaret, her husband, Fred; and children, Julianne (Jake) and Jenna (Keagan). Mark was also loved and cherished by his McManama in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mark's life on Friday, February 20, at 11am, at a Funeral Mass celebrated at Our Lady of Victory, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Mark's memory and honoring his late wife, to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA, 02574. www.ccals.org

Yesterday

Very sorry to all the Linehan Family. Mark was a great team mate and outstanding pitcher. He had pin point control and was a big reason why our 1972 Norwood Legion Team made the MA. state. I knew he was smart, but he was quiet, caring, and always supported his team members in any situation. It was a great pleasure playing against him in Little League, and joining him as a team mate after high school in 1972 and 1973 on the Norwood Legion team. He was a quiet leader but more importantly an outstanding individual. from Peter Weiss XB 1973
My thoughts and prayers for your family.
