Mark Kevin Mahlow, 64, of Star Lake, Wisconsin, took his final breath on June 10th, 2025, in his dream home he built, and his wife of 41 years, Bonnie, at his side. He was surrounded by many friends and family in his final days at home.
Mark was born September 30th, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard and Janet (Turner) Mahlow. He graduated from Madrid high school in 1979. In those years Mark could be found with friends and in his treasured '67 Chevelle.
Mark met his wife, Bonnie (Briggs) in Nevada, Iowa in 1982. They were married on January 14th, 1984. They had two daughters Danielle (McDonald) and Brandi (Erickson) and raised their family in Zearing where they lived for 40 years.
Mark was known for working with his hands from owning an auto body shop, farming and raising livestock, building wood foundations and private homes, to creating countless pieces of furniture that will be treasured for years to come. Spending time as a family came first creating memories by boating, snowmobiling, fishing, watching Vikings football, vacationing in his beloved Northwoods, watching the snowfall in front of a fire and making trips to the local pub. Mark will be forever known for his witty one liners and the ability to "build a shopping mall with a Qtip and a pocket knife" in the middle of the woods. He was known as "papa" to his six grandchildren and enjoyed taking them for rides on equipment and eating freezer pops and peanuts in the shell in his shop.
Mark leaves behind his wife, Bonnie, of Star Lake Wisconsin, two daughters and two awesome son in laws, Danielle (Tim) McDonald of Adel and Brandi (Adam) Erickson of McCallsburg. Six grandchildren Noelle, Alivia and Scarlett McDonald and Levi, Noah and Lily Erickson. His father Richard (Linda) Mahlow, his brother Kenny (Penny) Mahlow, sister LeAnn (Jeff) Miller, sister in law Jackie (Dwight) Kimber and brother in law Brent (Annette) Briggs and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Janet Mahlow and in laws Ron and Carol Briggs.
A service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 3 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa. A celebration in his honor will be held following the service from 4-7 pm at the American Legion in McCallsburg.
