Mark D. Mallette, 76, a prominent Cincinnati auctioneer and appraiser who served the community for over four decades, passed away of natural causes.
Married for 50 years to his wife Chris (nee Mersch), loving parent to their three children Christine McCoy (Corey), Douglas (Heather), and Michael (Brittany Tomkiewicz) and proud grandfather to Pierce, Camille, and Caitrin McCoy, Colin and Colleen Mallette.
Mark earned both his undergraduate degree in Psychology and graduate degree in Criminal Justice from Xavier University. His commitment to his alma mater continued throughout his life as he served on the Xavier Alumni Association Board for several years. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, particularly dedicated to the Xavier University Men's Basketball program; a passion he shared with his children. Golf was another activity he enjoyed both playing and watching with his family. His faithfulness to watching Jeopardy was also a well-known daily commitment.
A well-rounded individual, Mark was a member of the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus for many years. He also performed as an extra with the Cincinnati Opera.
In his distinguished career spanning more than 40 years, Mark conducted numerous outstanding auctions in both the fine arts and the commercial world. His notable fine art auctions included LaRosa's Inc., the Louise Nippert Estate, and the James Gamble Estate auctions. Commercial auction clients included General Electric, and the Great Oaks School Corporation. His expertise in antiques, fine art, and collectibles established him as a leading figure in the Tri-state area.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark demonstrated his dedication to the Cincinnati community through his board service with The Rotary Club of Northeast Cincinnati (formerly, Blue-Ash Montgomery), The Taft House, The City of Montgomery Arts Commission and the Tri-State Bleeding Disorder Foundation (formerly, The Tri-State Hemophilia Foundation). He assisted many non-profits, serving as the auctioneer or appraiser for their fundraisers. Organizations including WCET's (formerly, The Cincinnati Public Broadcasting Service) "Action Auction", The Cincinnati Bengals, Greenacres Foundation, The Ken Griffey Sr. Foundation, The Montgomery Woman's Club and many more.
Beyond his immediate family, other survivors include his sisters Jarren Auble, Nicole Giesler (Rich) and Michele Sherman (Jim) as well as Brother in-law's Larry Mersch, Bill Mersch and Roger Mersch, and Sister in-law's Rosanne Brooks (John) and Carol Leach (Dan). He also is survived by 8 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Warren and Jeroma Mallette, brother Roger Mallette and sister in-law Diane Mersch.
Services will be held on Friday, November 8th at Bellarmine Chapel (3801 Francis Xavier Way, Cincinnati, OH 45207) with visitation at 9am followed by services at 10am. **Please park in a marked spot.** A Celebration of Life will be held the same day at Terwilliger Lodge in Dulle Park (10530 Deerfield Rd, Montgomery, OH 45242) from 1-4pm.

Having gone to many auctions on which Mark was the lead auctioneer. Sadly, with a decreasing number of live auctions, I did not learn of Mark's passing until today, while visiting an estate sale. A lady working on this sale informed us of Mark's death. He will be missed.
